Buttons

One of the amazing things with vintage dresses and blouses from Japan (70's, 80's) is the variety of buttons.
I can't stop wondering if every button has really been designed and crafted just for this dress. The details, and the finishing (especially when they combine metal and stone / plastic parts) keep surprising me.

I recently came across a place "recycling" buttons from old, damaged (Japanese) dresses. It reminded me of how old people used to keep and re-use the metal boxes. I bought some, and many still had bunches of thread, or event fabric stripes in their holes.

Vintage hunt in Asia 2 : random piles

While I was inspecting and folding my latest findings and then making piles, I noticed the strange, random color and pattern combinations resulting from this.

I took some pictures of the piles. Somehow, the unstable pictures reflect their fragile steadiness...

Vintage hunt in Asia

Hi,

I have been actively browsing my favorite places for new items... I really enjoy the talk with the old ladies who sell those old dresses, and over the years they became part of my inner "family". And I have been really, really lucky so far, with around 100 new items (many winter / summer dresses, about 10 blouses, a handful of coats, knits and skirts).

I took rough pictures of the first items, soon to be added on my etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/JulesAtelier). I guess the first pictures will be added around the 20th of December, and I decided to add new items at a weekly basis, in 2011.

In the meantime, if you have any questions / requests (measurements...), please let me know by mail.

Wishing you merry December days,
Jule
